WINTER

 

            Being rejected by someone you loved was really hurting, and Jacob had felt this. But, there was a condition that was more hurting than this, it was letting your girl away because you two were hard to become unity as a couple. Jacob had loved Bela for a long time, but she apparently loved Edward more than him, his bestfriend. Now, he had to let Renesmee, Bela’s daughter.

Renesmee was a half vampire-human and Jacob was a werewolf. Of course she was, her mother was a human and her father was a vampire. Jacob didn’t even know whether he trully loved Renesmee, for he knew it would be hard for them to be united. He didn’t want Renesmee to feel the pain, like Bela when she bore Renesmee. So, he gave back Renesmee to Bela, he could not take care of her anymore.

“ I don’t want to do things that is going to be useless. It is impossible for me to have her with me. So, I better leave her with you. Tell her, that I really love her as my friend. I believe in you, Bela.” Jacob  knew that Bela was going to keep him, but she didn’t say anything. She appreciated his decision to let her daughter and not take her daughter with Jacob. She maybe felt guilty for rejecting him, so she wanted to return Jacob’s favor through her daughter.  

Life must go on, so the next day, Jacob decided to move to Norway alone without his Dad, where many wolves were. He would begin his life as a new person, well a werewolf. He was happy to be here, and wished he could heal his heart break, which it even could not be called as a heart break because they even weren’t even a couple yet. Switzerland was cold and dark, that’s why he moved here. It was a heaven for werewolves.

Jacob was looking at the snow in front of his home sitting on the bench of his balcony when he saw a girl walking from a distance. He could see she was in trouble bringing wood that Jacob guessed was for the hearth. He approached her and took over the wood.

“Where do you want to bring this?” asked Jacob.

The girl seemed to be shocked, then she said, “Thank you. Please put it in my home” then they walked together to the house next door. The girl signed Jacob to put the wood on the floor.

“Once again, thank you.” She smiled to Jacob.

“No worries.” said him, “I am Jacob.” Jacob greeted the girl, looking directly to her eyes and smiling.

“Alisha. Just Alisha” she smiled. “Do you mind to have a tea with me? Take it as your fee for bringing my wood which is really important for me. It warms me, you know, Norway is extremely cold.”

“Sure.” Jacob agreed the invitation immediately. “I’ll be glad to warm you anyway,”

Alisha was a little bit shocked hearing Jacob’s joke, then she said, “Well... we’ll see.”

Having a cup of tea with your neighbor sounded good for him right now. It was snowy, moreover he was a new person here, and he knew nothing about this place. They became closer after having a tea together. Day by day was spent by them together. Alisha would work in her home in the morning until 5 pm.

Jacob didn’t know what her job was, but he didn’t make it as a problem as long as he could meet Alisha. As usual, at 5 pm Jacob would come to Alisha’s house. He would only just come when Alisha’s work was finished, it was Alisha’s wish. Alisha didn’t need wood for her hearth anymore because he had Jacob who would warm her body. This new couple seemed to be the happiest people right now. They did groceries, went on a date, had a night motorcycle, and so on. But mostly they just stayed at Jacob’s or Alisha’s home with a tea for Jacob and steak for Alisha, looking at the sky in the balcony.

“Jacob, do you know why I like to stay here? That’s because I like looking at star in the night, it makes me peaceful, and being with you here makes me more completed.” Hearing this Jacob kissed Alisha straight away, under a thousand stars as the witness.

One day in winter, Jacob asked Alisha to go to a trip to his hometown where he came from, but Alisha refused this.

“Why? Why don’t you want to see my Dad?” asked Jacob. He was clueless why Alisha didn’t want to go to where his Dad was.

“I don’t want to, Jacob. You just can invite your Dad to come here, can’t you? I’ll be glad to meet him here.”

“Here is too cold for my Dad. He is not able to be in the cold for a long time.” Jacob was still trying to persuade Alisha. “What’s your problem,Alisha? Tell me! Let me know!”

It was hard for Alisha to tell him why she didn’t want to go because it was her secret, and she didn;t want Jacob to know this. “It’s not that easy, Jack. I just don’t want to be there.”

“Please.... I beg you, Al. Let’s go to my Dad.” Jacob hugged Alisha and asked her. He could feel her heart beat was fast.

Hearing Jacob begging for her made Alisha didn’t heart him, so, “Okay, then. I’ll go.” said Alisha in the end. Jacob then kissed Alisha’s forehead, and whispered, “I love you. Let’s prepare our stuff, baby.”

After preparing the stuff, they went to Fork where Jacob’s Dad lived. They arrived there at 1 a.m. greeted by the sun light. On the way there, suddenly Alisha was fainting, without any reason she couldn’t stand-alone. Jacob worried about her as soon as she said that she felt unwell.

“Hold it please. We are going to be there in a minute” said Jacob to Alisha, “Keep your eyes on me, don’t close these.”

Jacob straight away brought Alisha inside his home when he just arrived there. His Dad who had been waiting outside the house was wondering what was happening. He came to Jacob.

“What happened, Jack?” asked his Dad when she saw his son was picking the girl.

“I don’t know, Dad. She just suddenly fainted and losses her awareness. Could you please call dr. Carlisle to see her?” Doctor Carlisle was Edward’s Father who basically was a vampire. Jacob honestly didn’t want him to see Alisha, but he didn’t have any options because the nearest doctor was himself.

“Okay. I’ll call him. Take her inside quickly.”

Without less than 5 minutes dr. Carlisle had arrived in Jacob’s house, no wonder he was a vampire. He looked at Alisha, and it looked like something went wrong by looking at his face.

“There is something wrong with this girl, Jac. You have to let her go. She is a vampire.” Jacob was startled, how could his life always resolved with vampires around him? But, how could she be?

“Are you kidding me?! She is not!” Jacob couldn’t hold his tears anymore. “I couldn’t let a person who I really love leave me.”

“Well, if it is your decision. You have to face all possibilites that might happen. This girl is pregnant.”

“Oh my dear, Alisha. Forgive me,” Jacob cried out, facing this kind of situation again really made him tired.

“Werewolves and vampires will soon hear about this. Beside you and Alisha are here, they will know this soon, and a war is unavoidable.” dr. Carlisle told Jacob everything, but Jacob kept his mind.

“I don’t care. I’ll keep her with me.” Jacob hugged Alisha continously as if she would go if he let her. One day passed, Alisha couldn’t be saved and her body was wrecked because of the baby inside hers. Jacob? He was really sad upon this. His world was just decayed. Only if he had refused Alisha when she asked to do that, this baby would not ever exist. If he hadn't helped Alisha on the first time he saw her, this wouldn’t happen. Alisha would be still here. If he just stayed in Norway with Alisha, she would still be here with him. Norway was always winter for him, there’s no sunlight, and Alisha must be happy there. But all these things had happened, his imagination was futile.

A year ago, he was helping vampires to resist the wicked ones. Now, he fought for her lovely who had been going up to the star that she really liked, the place where she felt peaceful. This winter, he fought to reform his herd as a werewolf. Although he would win upon this, there would be no Alisha in his life. His life may be cold forever as cold as winter was in Norway, but his heart would always be warm because she was still there, in Jacob’s heart.
